The new roaring ’20s have brought me full circle in many ways. As everything feels upended and I move into yet a new era, I find myself returning to basics that have worked for the women who have come before me while letting go of that which no longer serves me. This is my home for all the skills, both new, old, and rediscovered.

What started as the Springtime Sourdough obsession in those early days turned into a deep curiosity about how my favorite foods were made. Summer-time stress cleaning led to “discovering” that long lost family recipe book that had slid into the very back of that barely used cabinet. Digitizing so many of those recipes then turned into asking questions of Mom and Grandma about what some of those ingredients are and where they came from… There are some classics through the decades, let me tell you!

Even as I’ve explored the kitchen, I’ve also dusted off that trusty little sewing machine. There has been mending, repairing and altering my existing clothing, and slowly but surely learning how to draft and assemble new clothing. All that fabric that I’ve been collecting for far too many years along with those ill-fitting thrift store finds are finally being put to good use!

Along the way, I’ve also embarked on an adventure with some historical reenactment community. So I’m sure the tunics will be on display, along with the fruits of my historic deep dives into the day to day lives of folks living in various parts of the world during the ‘medieval’ period.

The last few years have brought so many of these old skills into my own future. This will be my place of joy, connection, and sharing all the great things I’m (re)learning, cooking, (re)making, and growing.

I hope you will join me on this journey as I try to find a method in all the madness. It is my ultimate desire to build something more enduring with whatever resources are readily available over yonder.
